Student Life

House System

Chesterton Academy’s House system is drawn from the 1,000 year-old tradition of Christian education exemplified in the colleges at Oxford and Cambridge. The Houses provide real, tangible community within the larger school, giving students the opportunity to take ownership, fulfill the call to leadership, and to cultivate the ideal conditions for virtue. Each House has two Senior and two Junior prefects, two faculty advisors, and several parent liaisons.

Encountering Christ

Catholicism is central to our mission. For this reason, every school day begins with Mass. We teach theology out of the Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and papal documents. The priests of the St. John Society will serve as chaplains of the school. Other important ways we live the faith include annual pilgrimages and retreats, modest and wholesome extracurricular activities, and sacred art and crucifixes adorn the hall and the classrooms.

Faith in Our School

  • Sung Lauds on Monday

  • Daily Mass on Tuesday through Friday

  • Angelus before Lunch

  • First Friday Adoration

  • Weekly opportunities for Confession

  • Retreats and Days of Recollection for Feast Days

Athletics

In our inaugural year, our students kick-started our Archery Program with great enthusiasm and initiative. Our students practice throughout the year and travel to compete in regional and state tournaments.

In addition to our Archery Program, students at Chesterton Academy are welcome to participate in the athletic programs offered at their neighborhood high school. Chesterton Academy of St. Andrew maintains an Oregon State Athletic Association (OSAA) membership, which enables our students to have full access to high school sports.

Since the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, we encourage sports at every level and seek to form virtuous competitors with lifelong fitness habits.

Clubs & Activities

Chesterton Academy combines rigorous classical academics with a robust student life program centered on Catholic faith and community. Extracurriculars include Works of Mercy, Pro-Life initiatives, hobby clubs, and the unique House System, all aimed at forming young men and women into joyful saints.
